On November 16, 2005, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, the WNBA’s youngest draftee was born: Dominique Malonga. Just one year into the league, her name is already beginning to echo across arenas, whispered with equal parts awe and excitement. Her presence in the paint is powerful, but her story stretches so much further than the court.

Fearlessness has followed her from the moment she left Cameroon at 15. Fearlessness also stood beside her at 18, when she helped France win silver at the Paris Olympics. It showed up again when she became the first Frenchwoman ever to throw down a dunk in a EuroCup game. And fearlessness knew her best on the night she grabbed her first WNBA double-double, becoming the youngest player in league history to ever do it.

Now, at 20, it’s still right there with her, pushing her toward more milestones, and maybe soon, that first WNBA dunk we’re all waiting for.
