Fever Nation Floods WNBA All-Star Ballot

June 21, 2025 | Edition #101
👋 Hey, Hoophead!
It’s been just over a month into the season, and we’ve lost count of how many times we’ve called the Lynx and Liberty the “untouchables” of the season. But maybe it’s time for that to shift. Only one still stands truly above the rest. While the reigning champs' slide might be slow, it’s starting to show as others catch up fast. Meanwhile, Indiana may be hitting a few bumps on the court, but in the All-Star fan voting, they’re winning - and they’re doing it as a team.

All-Star Voting Has a Fever Glow

The Indiana Fever might’ve stumbled a bit this week on the court, but when it comes to fan love, they’re light years ahead, and the WNBA All-Star Game voting is basically a giant glowing billboard for that.
The 2025 All-Star Game is set for July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (home of the Fever), and the first round of fan voting is in. No surprises at the top - Caitlin Clark is leading the way with a jaw-dropping 515,993 votes. Right behind her is Napheesa Collier, sitting at nearly 485K votes. Phee, by the way, is also leading the league in scoring with 24.4 PPG.
Aliyah Boston is holding it down at No. 3, while A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and rookie Paige Bueckers are also in the 300K+ club. It’s worth noting that four Indiana players are in the top nine, including Lexie Hull (the 9.1 PPG role player!), and eight Fever names have cracked the top 40! The Fever fandom is loud, loyal, and clearly voting in droves. Who else made it to the list? Check out the top 40!
Meanwhile, fans are raising eyebrows about who’s missing. Big names like Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard haven’t cracked the top ranks yet, and debates are already lighting up online. Fan voting closes June 28, so there’s still time for shake-ups.
That’s not all. Fans are going to count for 50% of the vote! The rest? Players and media panels get a say too, with their votes making up 25% each. But if it all depended on fan votes, this All-Star Game might look a lot like a Fever home game.

Tale of Climbs: Geno’s Girls Light Up Mohegan

Geno Auriemma definitely picked the right night to sit courtside. The Dallas Wings stunned the Connecticut Sun 86-83, led by Paige Bueckers. While she kept her Mohegan Sun winning streak alive, Connecticut's own, Tina Charles (26 points), was doing everything she could to stop her. It turned into a full-blown UConn alumni battle with Geno watching his former stars.
Paige had a quiet start - just one basket in the first quarter - but we all knew that wasn’t gonna last. She flipped the switch in the second, dropped 21 points total, and even picked up her first career tech. Why? See for yourself.
The game itself was chaotic, with ten lead changes, eight ties, and a 12-0 Dallas run that cracked things wide open in the second half. Right in front of her former UConn squad-cum-besties, Paige Bueckers and Wings earned their second straight W.
Fun Fact: Out of Dallas’ 3 wins so far this season, 2 have come in Connecticut.
Meanwhile, over in Vegas, the Aces continue to unravel. A’ja Wilson returned from her three-game concussion absence, but Seattle had other plans. They came in ready and handed Vegas their third straight loss (90-83). In this difficult moment for the Aces, they might have unearthed a gem, though. Another rookie making her mark, Aaliyah Nye, has earned her minutes and even made this buzzer-beater at the end of the first.
For Seattle, Nneka Ogwumike led all scorers with 25 points, while Skylar Diggins followed close behind with 24. Shockingly, Vegas actually led by as many as 11 in the third quarter after a dominant run. But then things went downhill. The shooting slipped. The energy faded. And the Storm seized the momentum and never looked back in the fourth. Now, with that win, Seattle’s sitting pretty at 8-5.

Power Shift Incoming? Fever & Liberty Losses Open the Door

Did the Fever crack open New York’s shield? Or are the Liberty just following Indiana’s lead into the chaos lane? After torching the Liberty and muscling past Connecticut, the Fever walked into the Valkyries’ house on Thursday night like they owned the place. But let’s just say, the welcome wasn’t warm.
Indiana got hit with a reality check, losing 88-77 in a game that, honestly, they had in the bag for three quarters. The Valkyries were trailing all night until they exploded with 33 points in the fourth and shut the door.
Caitlin Clark was held to 11 points and ZERO threes. The best moment for Valks fans must have been when this Warriors star, sitting courtside, trolled Clark after a travel. The Fever had no answer for Kayla Thornton, who dropped 16 points and six rebounds, while Kate Martin added to her undefeated 5-0 record against bestie Clark.
The Liberty didn’t fare much better. Breanna Stewart gave everything she had - season-high 35 points - but New York still fell 89-81 to the Mercury. It was their first home loss of the season. Sure, Phoenix has a strong roster, but for this, the Liberty had only themselves to blame.
They got outworked on the boards (42-32) and let the Mercury grab 15 offensive rebounds! Oh, and Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas also had a performance never seen before in the W. Check out her numbers!
For New York, there is no need to hit the panic button yet, but with the standings tightening, they better fix things as they face Seattle next, especially with Atlanta creeping up.
After a 92-91 win over the Mystics, the Dream are 9-4 and flying high in the West. The most surprising thing is that they were losing for most of the game, in particular during the second half, but still managed to come out on top!

Caitlin Clark couldn’t make it to the Pacers’ last home game on Thursday since the Fever had a game out in the Bay. But of course, she still showed love for the team before catching up with her old Iowa teammate, Kate Martin. And in true Caitlin fashion, she had her own goofy little way of saying ‘hey’ on the court.

Your WNBA Watchlist!

It’s a double-revenge weekend for Chicago. First up, the Sky get another shot at the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday. It will be Mercury’s third game in four days, but they’ve already taken down the Liberty and Sun, so… can they go 3-for-3?
Then comes Atlanta for Sky- the same team that stole the win last time after Rhyne Howard dropped 36 and Chicago lost grip of a halftime lead. That game still stings. Cardoso, Reese, and Atkins had 39 points combined, but it just wasn’t enough. Maybe this time, it will be. Meanwhile, Reese is turning that MeBounds mess into a movement. Her latest move will melt your heart!
Elsewhere, the Sparks are in free fall. They’ve dropped two straight to the Lynx and Storm and could be heading for a sweep when they face Minnesota again on Saturday. The Kelsey Plum - Hamby - Jackson trio isn’t clicking, and Minnesota is rolling with a league-best 11–1 record. Will this be another blowout, or will Los Angeles lose vs the same team for the third time?
But the most fire matchup this weekend has to be Aces vs. Fever. Remember what happened last time Caitlin Clark & Co. visited Vegas? The Aces, who came into the season as title favorites, have now lost three straight. Moreover, they’re 3–3 at home, and it’s high time to defend that home court.
The Aces’ holy trinity - Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and A’ja Wilson - all need to show up. We’ll see if they can finally click on Sunday when they face a Fever team also reeling from a loss and desperate not to slide any further.
