Fines Hit 3 Coaches Over Reeve Controversy - LITE

September 30, 2025 | LITE Edition: #70

👋 Hey, Hoophead!
Didn’t we all think it was over? That with Minnesota’s exit, Cheryl Reeve’s drama and all the officiating chaos were behind us? Turns out, the WNBA wasn’t quite done. You’ve probably heard about “taking a bullet for a friend,” but Stephanie White and Becky Hammon had to take one bullet-like penalty out of nowhere for a rival instead.

Now as the Fever and Aces prepare for their do-or-die Game 5 showdown, the Lynx loss might mean a lot more than it seems, even putting Napheesa Collier’s legacy under the microscope. Find out why the Lynx might be on the verge of starting a whole new era.

Sunday’s Result: Most of you (99 votes) were banking on the Aces to take the series, but the 88 who backed the Mercury called it perfectly.

Women in leadership was on full display this WNBA season. Out of 15 head coaches, 8 were women and 7 were men and the playoffs reflected that dominance. A striking 75% of playoff teams were led by women, including Seattle, New York, Las Vegas, Indiana, Golden State, and Minnesota. Meanwhile, 80% of the teams that missed the postseason were coached by men, including Chicago, Dallas, Washington, and Connecticut.

Of course, these numbers are set to evolve with the addition of two new teams and the recent firings of Sandy Brondello and Noelle Quinn.
