Meanwhile, another game swung between being the best and worst of the season, depending on who you ask. And despite all the chaos during Michigan vs. Oregon, fans found one person to point their collective fingers at.

On December 30, 2002, the Portland Trail Blazers organization elected not to assume ownership of the Fire. For those unfamiliar, Portland’s first WNBA team, the Portland Fire, played from 2000 until folding after the 2002 season. Had they survived, there’s a strong case they could have grown alongside the league’s powerhouses of today. But now, in a twist only sports history can deliver, Portland is set to return years later as the WNBA’s 15th expansion franchise.
