The WNBA Finals, expanded from a best-of-five to a best-of-seven series in a 2-2-1-1-1 format, where the higher seed hosts Games 1, 2, 5, and 7. This change, approved by the Board of Governors, aims to create more drama and fairness, especially with league-wide charter flights making extra travel feasible. The semifinals remain best-of-five (2-2-1), while the first round is a best-of-three with a new 1-1-1 setup—ensuring every playoff team gets at least one home game.
